Off lead dog- walking, Surrey and Wales

Larks Hill in Bracknell on the way to Tesco's North Bracknell Store has a very large very secure field that all types of dogs but especially Greyhounds can run free most of the year. Sometimes they do put cattle in the secure field but they also put notices to that affect. You are still able to walk your dog in there but obviously on the lead. There are a number of doggy bins. Also there are a number of other paths but due a 40mph road running past it is unadvisable for any off lead walking. There are also a number of very quiet country roads just outside Larks Hill on the opposite side of the park to the main road. Horse riders also use the area outside the secure field and the country roads.

Also if anyone is coming to this area for a holiday, Craig-Y-Nos castle is a dog friendly establishment with lots of lovely on lead walks around. They allow dogs in the bar area where you can eat as well with your dog keeping you company. They allow dogs to stay overnight. Their web site is http://www.craigynoscastle.co.uk/ It is situated about 14 miles north of Swansea on the A4067 which is the main road between Swansea and Brecon with some marvellous mountain views. Their web site also gives details of dog friendly pubs etc.

Not far from Craig-Y-Nos is a Primate Sanctuary which has taken in numerous primates from rescue situations, they also have two socialised to Humans wolves that you can book walks with or just visit.

There are numerous beaches in the Swansea/Gower area that allow dogs all year around, however there are a number which ban dogs from 1st May until 30th September. One on Swansea Bay is split into three parts the middle one allows dogs all year around, due to a lack of signs confirming this I have asked Swansea County Council to ensure the signs are correct according to their leaflets. I must go and check they have done this. Information about dogs and Swansea Beaches at http://www.swansea.gov.uk/index.cfm?articleid=1110
