Bertie goes to Glasgow

Hello everyone,

Bertie here again. I just thought I’d let you know how I got on at Christmas up in Glasgow with my new mum and dad’s family.

We went up just before Christmas and I was told to on my best behaviour as Gran and Grandad are quite old and I’m quite a big boy. Well I knew I didn’t have to do anything as I just knew the old Bertie charm would work on them the same way it does with everyone else. And I, of course was right yet again. Everybody loved me!!! Even Granny Bunty and she loves chocolates as much as I do, so I thought there might be a bit of competition for the Maltesers. Well it turned out there was nothing to worry about. As soon as we got there and the introductions were over, I lay down beside Granny Bunty’s feet. She had never had a dog do that with her before; I knew I was in there….

When it came to dishing out the Maltesers, three guesses who got the first, yep me. Granny Bunty fed them to me, but she was a bit sneaky. When I wasn’t looking, she helped herself to some. See old people, when it comes to sweeties, you just can’t trust them J

Anyway, we were there for a week and it was brilliant. Santa even brought me and the Pampered Princess some presents. We had a great time tearing open the wrappers to get to the doggy treats inside them. I say we, but in actual fact the Pampered Princess, being the royalty that she is, had hers opened for her. Jings that dog is just so spoiled, she doesn’t realise how much fun it is ripping open presents. I must show her next Christmas.

Later on during Christmas Day, Dad put PP and myself into the bedroom as the family were all getting ready to sit down for dinner, Uncle John, Aunty Edel, Daniel and little Matthew had come over. He left the door opened so that we could go in and out as I really wanted to see what was going on. PP just lay under the bed as I kept popping in and out just to make sure everyone was ok. Sometimes while I was in, granny Bunty would sneak me a little bit of dinner without my mum or dad knowing, see what I was saying about never trusting old people J

As everyone was at the table, someone noticed that my wee pal Matthew was missing. Dad went to look for him. Guess where he was found!!! Under the bed feeding the PP doggy treats!!! Oh see that wee boy J Mum and Dad couldn’t scold him for laughing, and he wouldn’t come out from under the bed either.

So all in all, we had a great time in Glasgow. I of course, helped my dad with the directions when I stood behind him for most of the way up, and most of the way back, with my head out of the window. Mummy was complaining that it was cold with the window opened in the car, but she should know by now that I have to be able to see where I’m going if I’m going to navigate. Jings these back seat drivers.

I’m having a great time here in my new house, the Bertie charm works on everyone, and everyone loves me. My mum says everyone should have a Bertie, but how can they, I’m a one off!!!

So that’s all from me just now folks. Tell all my old pals, especially my lady friends, that I’m doing brilliant, but don’t tell them that the Pampered Princess still takes the mickey out of me occasionally. I’m getting better at keeping her under control, it’s just taking a bit longer than expected, she really can be hard work at times J

So cheerio everyone and I’ll see you all at Reach The Beach, yes, we are going back again. I had such a fantastic time at the last one. It was the first time I had stayed with my new mum and dad, and I was on trial at the time, but who could fail to love big old me J

So bye for now and lots of love,

Bertie
