We have so many kind friends and acquaintances that come and visit us at
the kennels. Sometimes it is easy for us to forget our supporters who,
for one reason or another, are unable to make the journey. So, for those
of you who have never crossed our threshold, or those of you who have
not visited since our early days here at Hersham, here are some recent
photos of this special place.
We can honestly say that not a day goes by when we do not count our
blessings, and we consider ourselves very fortunate to have the use of
these facilities. Here, away from a racing environment, our greyhounds
can truly begin their retirement and benefit from all the opportunities
they are given to experience life beyond these kennel walls.
THIS IS HOW IT SHOULD BE FOR EVERY GREYHOUND ONCE THEY HAVE RUN THEIR
LAST RACE. SADLY FOR SO MANY IT IS NOT.
Here we can give our greyhounds the time they need to adjust to a life
after racing, and we can honestly say that for those that need it, we
will give them a home for life. We never put a healthy greyhound to
sleep, as each and every one of them, whatever their shortcomings, is
too precious to us.
Of course, we worry about their future. We need to know that whatever
happens to us, when we are old and decrepit, (no comments please!) that
there will still be a special and safe place for these gentle creatures.
So forgive us all our fundraising, bucket shaking, and requests for
sponsorship. We can never sit on our laurels, be content with what we
have. We must look to the future. The greyhounds in our care, those
waiting to come in, those yet to be born, are relying on us, relying on
you.
