SAM

Sam (Shamrock)

1997 - 2008

Sam came to us aged 7 after being given up by his previous owners.
He spent a short time in the kennels where all but 4 of his teeth had to be removed.
We took Sam to help us and our other Greyhound 'Jessie' deal with the grief of losing our dear Jack (Holloway Jack).
Sam could not have been a better example of the perfect dog. His main nicknames were Sammy sofa (for obvious reasons), Sammy the hat (for his ability to sneak onto the bed at night and end up with his chest on one of our heads), and Rescue one (for the time Jessie went missing in the woods and he gave me the 'follow me' look and led a search & rescue mission).
Sammy was a true gentleman and attracted lots of attention where ever he went. He was a boy who knew what he wanted and he made sure we knew as well. He simply oozed character and charm.

On Christmas eve 2007 Sam began to limp on his front left leg. Within two weeks he was diagnosed with cancer and had the leg amputated. Unfortunately the cancer had spread further than first thought and he was put to sleep on 3rd February 08
Sammy made such a massive impact on our lives and will always be loved and missed immensely.
The 3 and half years we spent together were made very very special by this wonderful, loving, liberty taking, gorgeous boy.

Rest in peace Sam!
All our love,
Carolyn and Trevor
