Reach the beach 2007
|
There were times over the past few months when I thought we would never get there. As the day drew nearer there were times when I worried about what would happen when we did get there. But on the eve of our first ever Reach the Beach – I knew that whatever happened we were going to get there. AND WAS IT WORTH IT? YOU BET IT WAS! Perfect location, perfect weather, and perfect company. Everyone was in high spirits, and excited at being part of this most amazing event. They were making history, and they knew it. As always, hounds and humans behaved impeccably, and showed West Wittering what we already know; our greyhounds always rise to the occasion. Latest figures estimate over 200 hounds reached the beach, including our own Hersham Hounds waiting for homes at our kennels. This very special event owes it’s origins to them, and our dream of giving them a day at the seaside. This was truly a different sand beneath their feet. So many people worked incredibly hard to bring this event together, but I must say a very special thank you to Liz and Nick Coleman, their hound Jazz and their special Hersham Hound Ozzie. Without them none of this would have been possible. They kept the dream alive. Before I say thank you to everyone else who played their part in this particular venture, there’s just one more thing to say. WOULD WE DO IT ALL AGAIN? YOU BET WE WOULD!
