You are amazing. You are wonderful, kind, generous and caring, and
you are prepared to come out and support us whatever the weather.
Last Sunday saw our most successful EVER ‘Switch On The Christmas
Lights’ event – here at our kennels. The weather forecast had been
awful, but we escaped lightly. Not only did you venture out to see
us, you brought along your hounds and stayed to join in our
celebrations. We had the most wonderful afternoon and everyone
commented on what a sociable event it was (nothing to do with the
vast quantities of Pimms and Mulled Wine which were consumed then?)
Our thanks go to you all for not only being there, but for bringing
such a variety of gifts for us and our hounds. Our thanks go to our
staff and volunteers who worked so incredibly hard to prepare for
the event, and to those who manned our stalls on the day and helped
with the clearing up.
The tribute tree was a resounding success, and Dot took time out on
Monday afternoon to hang all the baubles, now dry, on our Christmas
tree. I have to say they look lovely, and we cannot resist looking
at them and reading the names every time we pass by. What memories
they stir.
At the end of the day we had raised an amazing £1200 on our stalls,
and taken a further £860 in the shop. Donations on the day amounted
to £250. At this time of the year, when we batten down the hatches
in preparation for the winter ahead, these extra funds are so very
much appreciated to help cover the additional running costs of our
kennels. Your generosity means that we can look forward to giving
the greyhounds in our care a wonderful Christmas, and keep them safe
and warm until spring arrives.
Wishing you all a most wonderful Christmas,
Denise and everyone at WGW.
